Our Story
Our Story
At Alamode Vista, every shawl and stole carries within it centuries of craft, the memory of mountain pastures, and the patient hands of artisans who have inherited their art through generations. We exist to bring these living traditions to those who appreciate beauty that takes time.
Rooted in the Himalayas
Our journey begins high in the Kashmir Valley and the foothills of the Himalayas — landscapes where the world's finest wools are born. The raw pashmina we use comes exclusively from the Changthangi goat, a rare breed that grazes above 14,000 feet. Each spring, herders hand-comb the soft under-fleece from these animals, yielding a fiber of extraordinary fineness: lighter than air, warmer than wool, and impossibly soft against the skin.
Alongside pashmina, our silk threads are sourced from family-run sericulture farms, where mulberry silkworms are raised with care, producing a lustrous yarn with a natural sheen that no synthetic can replicate.
The Artisans Behind Every Thread
We work with a close-knit community of master weavers and embroiderers — many of whom are third- and fourth-generation craftspeople. In Kashmir, the art of Kani weaving is passed from father to child through coded patterns called taleem, handwritten scrolls that translate a design into thousands of individual thread movements. A single Kani shawl can take six months to a year to complete on a traditional wooden loom.
Our Zari artisans, skilled in the ancient technique of weaving real gold and silver metallic thread into silk, carry on a tradition that once adorned the courts of Mughal emperors. Each Zari piece glimmers with a quiet opulence that only hand-work can achieve.
In the studios of Andhra Pradesh, our Kalamkari painters work with hand-made reed pens and natural dyes — turmeric, indigo, pomegranate rind — to render intricate botanical and narrative motifs on fine cotton and silk. No two pieces are identical. That is not a flaw; it is the signature of the hand.
Materials We Treasure
We believe that extraordinary craft deserves extraordinary materials. Our collections are built around:
- Pure Pashmina Wool — ultra-fine, hypoallergenic, and incomparably warm, hand-spun before it ever meets a loom.
- Mulberry Silk — with a natural lustre and drape that deepens beautifully with wear.
- Mother-of-Pearl Pendants — ethically sourced shells, hand-cut and polished to reveal their iridescent inner glow.
- Semi-Precious Stone Pendants — labradorite, amethyst, turquoise, and more, selected for their natural character and set by hand into each stole's finishing detail.
Nothing is mass-produced. Every material is chosen because it honours the craft it becomes part of.
Slow Fashion, Lasting Beauty
In a world of fast fashion and disposable luxury, Alamode Vista stands for the opposite. Our pieces are made to be worn for decades and passed on. They age gracefully, grow softer with each wear, and tell a richer story with every season. When you choose an Alamode Vista shawl or stole, you are not simply buying a textile — you are becoming the next chapter in a story that began long before either of us.
We are honoured you are here.
